The Vanishing of Sister Aimee dramatizes the extraordinary true story of evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson's mysterious 1926 disappearance, as an unrelenting police detective, a fiercely protective mother and Aimee herself offer competing versions of the same aston-ishing events.  As testimony, memory and public spectacle collide, the investigation uncovers hidden relationships and uncomfortable truths that blur the line between faith and performance. Moving seamlessly between courtroom-like interrogations, flashbacks, and electrifying revival meetings, the play explores how myth can become more powerful than fact when an entire nation longs to believe.
